Top Three Pieces - August ➕
HERE'S A BETTER LOOK at our top three favourite pieces for the month of August... what do you think? Are these your current favourites too?
At the end of August it is Emirati Women's Day so we are happy to see that the locally made khoos baskets, made by Emirati female artisans, are one of our top pieces for the last month.
1. The Khoos Basket.
These beautiful hand woven baskets are crafted locally in the UAE by skilled Emirati female artisans. Using methods that are steeped in Emirati history and culture, each piece is individual and unique to the maker. And if that wasn't enough, they are woven from locally sourced and sustainably grown palm fronds - the fronds are collected from local farms and sources where normally they would be waste and taken by these skilled women and turned into these beautiful pieces of decor.
The baskets are ideal for storage, coffee table additions and adding a piece of locally made tradition into your home.
2. The Rattan Trays in White
Handwoven from sustainably grown materials, the rattan tray is the perfect versatile addition to your home. They are available in three sizes at 40cm, 50cm and 60cm wide so able to fit either as coffee table additions, shelf styling or as use as serving trays in their own right.
With each size also available in three striking colourways - off-white, natural and black, there's a style to suit everyone and it seems that the off-white is the most popular this month.
3. The Gourd Baskets
The striking Gourd baskets are one of our most popular and most unique pieces. Made by hand by underprivileged women in Bulawayo, in the Matebeleland district of Zimbabwe, the weaving craft offers support to these skilled artists and their families.
The baskets are handwoven using natural plant fibers such as Llala and Indaza grass, which are grown and harvested locally in the region. Known for their natural organic shape, each one is completely unique in size and style, adding individuality to it's design and making stunning display pieces to add to your home.
